Well, last night we connected with the owners of our little guest.
It was a difficult night, but, it also provided a sense of relief to see the neighbors reconnect with their chihuahua!
When we found the dog, she had no microchip or collar and the residents in the area did not recognize her. However, in all honesty, I always had a weird feeling and I think it would have persisted if we hadn't connected with them.
We now know that Trixie's real name is Daisy, and the owners are very grateful for our care. It truly made this difficult time a bit more human for me.
By the way, the owners even showed up with masks!
Be a good neighbor. Do the right thing. Think about how things affect everyone involved.
